Technological skills make differences when dealing with larger, more complicated halls

Recently in urban areas, it's becoming common that halls are being built near railroads or inside a large compound buildings. For such locations, it is important to ensure hall quietness by adopting a high-grade sound insulation construction known as a "completely floating structure" with anti-vibration support by separating the floor, walls, and ceiling from the building frame construction. For halls and theaters, a completely floating structure becomes impossible in many areas, including the balcony seats, trap cellars, grid iron railings, and some spots on the ceiling. These areas are not noticeable in normal plans and sectional views or detailed views, but the problems and complications will arise as the design project moves forward. All these problems will be discovered in the design stage, and deciding on how the problems will be resolved and whether they will influence the actual construction is extremely important for ensuring the final acoustic performance. In particular, the sound isolation structure of a hall with a high ceiling must be constructed inside a floating steel frame supported by rubber cushions. As such, the know-how involved with this work is different from building smaller spaces like practice studios. Care is also required during construction of the final shape and sound-reflecting or sound-absorbing characteristics of undulating walls and R-shaped ceilings, which can effect room acoustics. In short, larger and more complexly shaped halls require a greater level of technological skills.
