Automatic measurement device for unwanted aircraft noise

Aircraft noise measuring instrument developed from the measurement field

The DL Series automatic aircraft noise measuring system originated in the field of noise measurement. Based on experience and technology gained from the noise measuring field by engineers familiar with aircraft noise, this system makes high-accuracy measurement a reality. Conforming to the "Aircraft Noise Measurement and Evaluation Manual" from the Ministry of the Environment, measurement data obtained by the system can be used as Lden and weighted equivalent continuous perceived noise level data. A wide variety of customizations are available to suit customer requests based on constant-monitoring (fixed station) or portable-type (mobile station) systems.

Characteristics of the high-accuracy DL Series automatic aircraft noise measurement device

Radio wave-based aircraft identification technology

When it comes to automatic measurement of aircraft noise, being able to determine whether the measured data is actually aircraft noise is indispensable. Nihon Onkyo Engineering's radio wave-based aircraft identification technology and unique high-discrimination accuracy allows users to automate a variety of operations--from measurement to data processing--without losing data accuracy or reliability, all the while reducing labor.

Design philosophy: "Reliably capture aircraft noise"

In addition to recording noise measurement data even for aircraft noise that does not satisfy the measurement recording conditions, radio wave-based identification information is also recorded simultaneously, ensuring that even ambiguous data that is only suspected of being aircraft noise is not overlooked. Moreover, a built-in sound-recording function allows users to record signal waveforms of unwanted sound (actual sounds).
Using Nihon Onkyo Engineering's summarization program, processing is performed even for measured data for areas where there is not much difference between aircraft noise and background noise, ensuring identification of aircraft noise.
The automatic measurement device also offers the following advantages.
? Measurement automatically starts at power-up to ensure automatic resumption of measurement upon power recovery even after the battery has completely drained due to a power outage.
? Easily usable even for first-time users! Setting operations are incredibly easy with a large touch panel with excellent visibility. View settings and data through direct on-screen operations.
? Automatic judgment of "cover sounds" superimposed on aircraft noise through the addition of a sound source detection and identification device using our proprietary acoustic technology.
? Customization requests accepted. Just ask!

24-hour constant monitoring, 365 days a year -- Fixed monitoring stations

Constant monitoring stations (fixed measurement stations) are able to operate continuously 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. This measurement device can be installed on a cabinet rack alongside commercially available handheld sound level meters and Nihon Onkyo Engineering's "Aircraft Approach Detection and Identification Device" as well as data communication equipment and battery power to prevent power failure. Such cabinet rack can be used either indoors or outdoors depending on the installation location.

Quick, multi-point measurement -- Portable monitoring stations

Based on input from customers working in aircraft noise measurement environments, portable monitoring stations aim to solve various on-site problems while achieving a reduced size and weight, lower power consumption, and easy setup/removal without sacrificing the measurement functionality or accuracy offered by constant monitoring stations.
Measuring instruments are stored compactly in a case that makes transportation less of a hassle. This configuration also requires less installation space. A "multi-cable" embodying a variety of sensor cables--including for microphones, identification devices, and atomic clocks--is used to provide drastic reductions in on-site setup and removal.
