Measurement Technology

A simple way of measuring a wide range of flight path

Altazimuth instrument takes a flight path measurement

Using our self-developed flight path monitoring devices, we can investigate and measure the flight path.
The impact of aircraft noise fluctuates widely according to not only the aircraft type and the weather condition but also the flight courses, therefore, measuring both the noise and the flight path is important. By simultaneously measuring the azimuth angle and elevation angle at two points, the flight path can be obtained by the triangulation method. We have developed an original, easy-use flight path measurement instrument (optical altazimuth instrument), and by using this instrument, we've experienced aircraft flight path measurements around a lot of airports such as civil airports and military airports. This altazimuth instrument consists of a telescope and encoders which read the direction of scope (azimuth angle and elevation angle) with 0.1 degree accuracy along with the time, and transfer them to the PC. By using this instrument, we can measure a wide range of flight path ranging from 10 to 20km. Furthermore, we can measure at night time by targeting the aircraft's navigation light.

By overlapping measured data with the map, a flight path will be clearly displayed. Furthermore, we can categorize and display data by the aircraft type, the destination, the object and so on by correlating the flight path with the airport data. In addition, by making database by calculating the relationship between the noise level and slant distance, we can obtain the basic data for the simulation of noise distribution and make up the dispersion of the flight paths.
