This is a practice studio mainly used for concert rehearsal. This studio was designed on an assumption that it would accommodate a large number of people and sometimes its floor area is over 200m2.
If you were thinking of carrying equipment using a heavy truck, the suburbs is a good area which large construction can be done including a large parking area. This is preferred over an urban area.
In this studio, a rehearsal is going on using all of the concert equipment. Therefore it is essential to have a high-grade sound insulation structure that can withstand the big volume which comes from the concert if there are many studios or tenants living above and below the building.
To take on the large number of heavy equipment for a concert, the building itself needs to have a greater structural strength compared to a normal recording studio.
Many rehearsal studios are remodeled from an existing warehouse, since the original building structure itself was designed for heavy live load and have higher floor height and wider span of columns than normal architecture. Therefore, implementing an updated acoustic design for a rehearsal studio is ideal and useful for a warehouse.
Many customers who usually rent a practice studio are amateur bands, therefore designing a practice studio near a station is ideal to attract these customers.
Each room is designed to accommodate from 2 to 3 or up to 10 people at a time. These rooms are rented out on an hourly basis, henceforth the need to design a large and efficient room is important. Key point to the construction is the design, use of high-quality sound insulation and absorption structure using thin and strong materials.
Furthermore, during the planning stage of a new practice studio in the building that has other tenants living there. First, we need to research to find out what kind of tenant is living in the building. If silent ambience is necessary for the tenant who is living above and below the practice studio, we have to develop a special high quality sound insulation plan to protect them.
However, in most common building for tenant there might be a limit about the amount of weight that can be placed on the floors. In addition these buildings sometimes have low floor height which creates difficulties to implement an ideal sound insulation structure and comfortable sound space.
We will listen and review the ideal studio you would like to design which will work within your budget. Then using our expertise in acoustic design, we will give you a proposal of what is possible and what is impossible to do within your specifications and budget.
In the live music club that has rock/pop music,
it uses a high power PA system which radiates extremely loud sound and the number of audiences will create huge vibration by 'Shaking to the rhythm'. The 'shaking to the rhythm' vibration will shake the building frame construction and transmit throughout the building and sometimes the vibration that's shaking the ground will reach buildings far from the live music club.
It is difficult to deal with these noise and vibration countermeasure by only using sound and vibration proofing techniques in the live music club. Therefore, we need to strengthen the skeleton of the building itself. For example, using reinforcement slab, this will strengthen the floor by making the floor slabs thicker and by adding crossbeams, or in some cases further strengthening the fundamental structure or making improvements to the ground itself might be necessary.
Another specific feature of a live music club is that it has running water for the kitchen and lavatories in the same chamber. If we do construction focusing on vibration control and build all facilities using the floating construction, the problem will be resolved; however,it is easier said than done.
To undertake this business it is very important to have highly skilled and experienced staff working together through the operation department from acoustic consulting (spec consideration/designing the plan) to the design stage, to the construction and finally to the final review and inspection of the building.
