NES (Natural Excellent Sound) monitor speaker was developed in 1993 in time with the renovation of B studio which is one of the SOUND INN STUDIO known as long-established recording studio.
In those days, there were no existing monitor speaker which fits the control room environment in Japan and satisfies two incompatible elements such as 'high-power' and 'high-quality'.
Therefore NES project was established from the idea that "if it doesn't exist, then we'll make it." led by SOUND INN STUDIO. And finally the NES monitor speaker was completed after repeating a trial manufacturing, data accumulation and audition in our experimental control room for several months.
At that time, SOUND INN STUDIO was a studio operating division of Vap Inc. which delivered many products from a Cue Box to 'Monoler', especially 'Over Quality' console, to the market other than studio works.
Finally, NES was adopted as a high sound quality studio monitor speakers which have been used in NHK studio. Currently, we have succeeded to manufacture and sell our NES product line mainly through key television broadcast stations supported by various other businesses.
Custom-made System
Variations concerning customer's monitor environment are infinite regarding the size of the room, the recording genre, listening level, preference of sound and system device including the mixing console. Producing, tuning and customizing all NES system to optimize monitoring in all environments are the intent to keep up with the needs of a customer.
Tough enclosure made from Woodless material
Phenolic resin is a material called 'Merafit' that is used as a component for enclosure, and it has a specific gravity of 1.6 about 2 times of wood. It has strong stiffness that does not waver from the vibration of a woofer drive unit. In addition, because there is no individual difference between the enclosure using natural materials such as wood, thus it is far superior in uniformity between the L/R speakers which influences the characteristic of the speaker.
Uniquely developed high-power soft dome midrange unit
Regarding the midrange speaker unit which can make a central bandwidth of sound, there are only a handful of manufacturers in the world that can supply a high-quality, high-power soft dome unit, we have developed NES's unique midrange unit in cooperation with TOA Corporation. The 100mm diameter is a key feature for this unit which can lower the crossover frequency with the woofer at 350Hz creating a high-power stable unit.
The sound tuning including the room acoustic
The quality of sound in a monitor environment is not only decided by the performance of the speaker itself. But also it is affected by everything from the feature of the electrical system (from the mixing console to the power amp) to the room transmission characteristics which reaches the ears of a listener after it has been converted to sound by the speakers. We are taking great strides in constructing the best monitor environment with total coordination not just only installation but also sound tuning including the room acoustic, in order to show the performance of the speaker effectively.
As well as a fulfillment of the NES monitor speakers lineup, we are proposing a speaker elevator device system as one option to respond to requests relevant to the speaker setting as a result of 5.1ch surround response from our various customers including broadcast stations.

Ceiling Type
This is an electric elevator type speaker mount hung from the ceiling.
The maximum stroke is 60cm and it is possible to stop it at any position within a stroke by using the remote control switch.
It can achieve a suitable setting in case of bad effect on the operation if ITU-R placement is adopted for the surround rear speaker. It is possible to lower the unit to an ideal height in case of surround monitoring and keeping it elevated at a level of height not to interfere on the usual occasion. Adopting the technology and construction of a ' Microphone Traverse system' which we supply for experimental laboratory such as an anechoic room, we develop this system as a new version. It's light because of the aluminum main member, therefore the load against the ceiling is reduced.

Floor Type
This is an electric elevator type floor stand. The maximum stroke is 46cm and it is also possible to stop it at any position within a stroke by using a remote control switch.
It is useful when you arrange the surround monitor setting at the near field in addition to the existing monitor environment. Adapting for the front channel at the back of the console, it is possible to lower the speaker at a lower position than the console in the case of an existing 2ch monitoring. Also, we are preparing a manual operation stand.
